SPNM Scholarship Deadline

OPPORTUNITY TO SEND A LEADER OF A NON-FOR-PROFIT THAT SERVES CONNECTICUT RESIDENTS TO AN HBS LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT COURSE THIS SUMMER

Harvard Business School Club of Connecticut

Community Partners

 Scholarship Announcement

The Harvard Business School Club of Connecticut Community Partners is now accepting nominations for our 10th Annual Scholarship in Nonprofit Management .  The scholarship will enable the CEO or Executive Director of a Connecticut-based non-profit to attendStrategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management (SPNM) at Harvard Business School (HBS) in July 2013.

SPNM is an intensive, one-week program taught by leading HBS faculty and attended by nonprofit executives from around the world.  The course gives nonprofit leaders the opportunity to step back from the day-to-day pressures of the workplace to examine their missions and to explore the strategic challenges faced by their organizations.  Working in groups, executives are able to compare their experiences and develop practical solutions to key issues.  Additional information about SPNM may be found at:www.exed.hbs.edu/programs/spnm

Scholarship Candidate Criteria:

  1. Qualified candidates must be nonprofit executives (level of CEO, President, Executive Director) responsible for shaping the direction, mission, policies and major programs of their organizations.
  2. Candidates should be from organizations with the capacity to implement and benefit from the management lessons and frameworks presented in the SPNM program, so we are considering organizations with a minimum of several full-time employees and an annual operating budget of at least $500,000 (preferably over $1 million).
  3. HBS will not consider applications from industry/trade associations, management support organizations, or consulting firms.

The HBS Club of Connecticut Community Partners would like to extend the opportunity to apply for this scholarship to the widest possible range of candidates in our state. We are therefore asking our Connecticut alumni to recommend outstanding nonprofit executives. Scholarship candidates will be asked to submit an application form that is an abbreviated version of the HBS application.  Applicants will be evaluated by our Scholarship Committee, a group of alumni with experience in the nonprofit sector.

If you know a CEO or Executive Director who would benefit significantly from the SPNM program, please contact Anna Song (HBS1992) via email at annapsong@gmail.com  for additional information.
