Fall weather remind you of Back - to - School? Curious about area HBS alumni and what they're doing? Want to meet and mingle with alumni from some other "well known" business schools? Do them all! You are cordially invited to an Octoberfest on Tuesday October 6th, 2009, 6 – 8 pm at the Thomas Hooker Brewing Company in Bloomfield.
It's a terrific time of year, and a long overdue opportunity for Greater Hartford area alumni to reconnect and make a few new connections. Joining us are the Harvard Club of Northern Connecticut, and alumni from MIT, Tuck, Darden, Wharton, Kellogg and Stanford. Curt Cameron, President of Thomas Hooker, will provide "insider insights" on entrepreneurship, brand and distribution development and some of the logistical challenges of producing beer. We'll get a private tour of this up and coming microbrewery and sample their award-winning Octoberfest brew. Spouses and significant others are welcome.
Thomas Hooker Brewing Company is named for the founder of Hartford, and is establishing itself as the premier brand for Connecticut. It produces and distributes ales and lagers and currently has 11 products, which are distributed in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New York, eastern Pennsylvania and Florida. First established in 1995 as the brewing arm of the Trout Brook Brew Pub in the old Spaghetti Factory in Hartford, the company and its brands were purchased by the current investor group in 2006. Precipitated by the closure of the adjacent brew pub in mid-2003, Trout Brook Brewery became a manufacturing micro brewery with a new focus on distribution. The products were re-introduced to the market as Thomas Hooker Ales & Lagers in August, 2003 and moved to the current and much larger, 8,000 square foot facility in Bloomfield in 2007.
Curt Cameron, a native of Granby, began his business career with a start-up software development firm, and had several successful entrepreneurial ventures before forming the investor group that acquired the brewery. He speaks on entrepreneurship to a variety of audiences, and has taught in the Lehigh University MBA program. Please join us for what promises to be a great evening.
Cost of the event is $20/person including site rental, guided tour and tasting, and appetizers.
